TABATA!

I tried Tabata last Friday for the first time. Tabata is one excercise performed continuously for 20 seconds with a 10 second rest between rounds for a total of 4 minutes. I used two 8 kg bells and performed thrusters. To quote Dan John from his book, Never Let Go, "The tabata progam might be the single best fat-burning workout I know. It may be only four minutes, but I keep sweating and breathing hard for a long, long time afterwards." If you try it, make sure to keep track of your reps for the next time you try it. I achieved 51 reps in 4 minutes, next time I'll go for more....

I am now officially an RKC

Just heard from Senior RKC Brad Nelson that I have passed and earned my RKC designation. I've been working with Mandla Nkosi of Boston Kettlebell for the last 2 months on mobility issues using R Phase Z Health. For any of you out there in the Boston area, Mandla is the man for joint mobility. I don't think there isn't an issue he can't identify and fix. For more info, visit his site www.bostonkettlebell.com

Z Health Practice...

Today is my first day at this....Here's what I'm currently working on: I'm practicing R Phase Z Health to increase shoulder and T-Spine Mobility so I can achieve perfect overhead lockout on my presses, Getups and Snatches. I am practicing my double swings, double clean and presses and double racked squats. I'll be filming my excercises next week to hopefully earn my RKC. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

About Me

My photo
I am a 41 year old mother of four who is AFTA and Art of Strength (AOS) certified in kettlebell training. I began using Kettlebells in 2004, a year following the birth of my triplets. Once I picked up a "bell" I never looked back. I trained with Anthony Dilugio of Punch Gym in Providence, RI and attended his Art of Strength Essentials Course in the summer of 2007. This past April, I took my Kettlebell experience to a new level and attended a three day "Russian Kettlebell Challenge" in Minneapolis, MN. I met and trained with Pavel Tsatsouline and his army of Master and Senior RKCs. I achieved milestones such as 54 snatches with a 16kg bell and various gruelling workouts put together by the likes of Brad Nelson, Andrea DuKane and Doug Nepodal to name a few. I currently train clients at Gold's Gym in Ashland, MA. My goal is to get people to realize the power of Kettlebells and to change the way they look at "working out" forever.
